Jennifer Lopez Deflects Marriage Questions On 'Today' Show

Jennifer Lopez isn’t quite ready for marriage with boytoy Casper Smart.

JLo stopped by the Today Show this morning and avoided most of Matt Lauer’s unyielding questions…uncomfortably.

Lopez declared last year a “rough year” not because of her failed 7-year marriage to Marc Anthony but because of American Idol’s grueling schedule.

There has been ongoing rumors of discord between Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony since their split, but beyond speaking of their willingness to work together on their new talent show Q’Viva: The Chosen, Jennifer had nothing to say about the negative reports.

When Lauer began rehashing quotes from her post-divorce ‘Vanity Fair’ interview on “loving herself enough to walk away” from her marriage to Anthony—the singer-actress refused to chat about her pending divorce.

“Matt! I’m going to kill you right now. Why do you have to bring it up!”

Matt trying to gain more clarity from the source asked if she could explain further.

“No! I can’t!” she mustered through a laugh. Because everything I wanted to say about the divorce I said in that article, and Marc and I agreed we weren’t going to talk about it publicly again because it really is our personal life. … At the end of the day, like I said, we’re working together, we have a lot of love for each other and we’re human. It’s not the easiest thing in the world but I think we handle it with a lot of grace and a lot of caring and a lot of love.”

A fresh-faced Lopez seemed uncomfortable— hinging on flustered— as she tried to revert Matt’s line of questioning from personal back to work, but she gave in enough just to speak on the difficulties of having a working relationship with her ex.

“We’re human. I’m not going to sit here and lie to you about it. But at the end of the day there is real love there, and there is a family there and that comes first. And at the end of the day we also really love this project. It has its difficult moments once in a while when we’re together, just because of the same things as when we were married.”

And in attempt to comb over any statement that could be taken out of context, Jennifer added, “Marc and I were friends before we got married. We were friends for years. And we always loved each other, and we always worked together…. Obviously, we have children together so it’s not like he’s not going to be in my life, he’s always going to be in my life.”

While she didn’t mentioned her lover Casper Smart, Matt asked if marriage was on the horizon.

“Do you think you’ll marry again?”

“I don’t know,” she said, “We’ll see. I don’t know. It’s not time to think about that yet. It’s still fresh.”
