Alicia Keys Host AIDS Fundraiser With Help From Celebrity Friends

Alicia Keys joins fellow celebrity friends in hosting a benefit for children with AIDS at the 8th Annual Keep A Child Alive Black Ball at the Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC this past Thursday.

Inside, Alicia rallied the guests into buying a dinner party with Edward Norton and Naomi Watts for $25,000 and a trip to Paris Fashion Week for $15,000.

The most expensive purchase was a lifetime membership to all of Donald Trump’s golf properties, which went for $180,000.

Keys stated;

“We all deserve a chance at life. Tonight really goes to the people. It really goes to the people that we serve, so that they can have the medicine to live.”

Keys, who later performed, also told MTV News;

“The theme is going to be all about India because we’ve moved into helping to serve India in regards to what they’re going through with the AIDS pandemic, just like we do in Africa.   It’s going to be beautiful, the music is going to have a little Indian style to it as well, which is super fun for me to explore.”

Keys arrived in a sparkling, gold and cream top along with her husband Swizz Beatz who was the perfect piece of arm candy draped in a blacked out tux.

Other notable celebs who supplied their star power to help a worthy cause include tennis powerhouse Serena Williams, actress Kerry Washington, realty TV star LaLa Anthony and her NBA husband Carmelo, Queen Latifah and top model Tyra Banks.

Serena Williams spiced things up with a warrior inspired gown equipped with metal neck and waist armor, Kerry Washington kept things classic in a white ball gown, LaLa appeared simple yet elegant in a black, full length gown while her husband Carmelo spiced up his black tux with a hint of print inside, Queen Latifah looked like royalty in her black pants suit equipped with flowered hat, and Tyra Banks struck a model pose in a stunning purple ensemble.

Keys closed the evening by singing Fergie’s part in the Black Eyed Peas’ hit I Gotta Feeling with Will.I.Am, complete with her mother and younger brother clapping along happily on stage.
