Update-Kim Kardashian is receiving sympathy/advice left and right after her marriage to Kris Humphries failed. A surprising source is Real Housewives of Atlanta star NeNe Leakes. (more on that later).
In an ironic twist in the fairytale wedding and subsequent 72 day marriage, Kim K is seeking some privacy. Just hours after announcing her divorce to Kris Humphries, Kim left for Australia to promote yet another Kardashian brand. In one of the many interviews Kim K stated,
“What upsets me most is that there has been, from the start, so many rumors of money and dollar signs,” she said. She understands the scrutiny, “but I think that [it] also just teaches me I kind of want to step back a little bit.”
Kim added she had a follow her heart and she followed it right out of Australia with sis Khloe Kardashian.
Kim not only canceled her planned promotional engagements through the weekend in Melbourne; she also called off her appearance at the Melbourne Cup Carnival for Swisse vitamins marquee on Saturday, for which she was reportedly to be paid $150,000.
“I am very disappointed that I am unable to attend the Swisse marquee but I hope to come back and work with the Swisse team at another point in time.”
Hmm…hope they can stop pay on that check since it appears Kim will be busy for quite some time dealing with a nasty prenup which created friction even before her and Kris were wed.
According to TMZ, a major point of contention within the agreement was how much money Humphries would receive from earnings generated from their wedding (you know, the wedding Kris Jenner swore Kim didn’t profit from).
As you may have guessed, Kim emerged victorious as documents confirmed their assets would remain separate, with Humphries receiving a limited amount of the money generated by their wedding.
Friends of Kris also claim that he is reportedly asking for the $2 million engagement ring he gave to Kardashian back. Did he actually pay for that ring? Or was it another sponsor related exchange?
Guess that’s anybody’s guess now since Kim appears more than willing to hand over the rock in order to avoid a nasty legal battle.
Kris may have been tipped off that his soon to be ex is returning to LA because he also canceled previous plans to host a party at Chateau Gardens this weekend in Las Vegas.
A rep confirmed the news with US Magazine.
Now back to NeNe Leakes who understands all to well that reality TV can destroy a marriage. She too is divorcing her husband Greg – although they lasted much longer than 10 weeks. NeNe tells E! News,
“I was sad to hear the news. My heart goes out to her–and them. I hope it wasn’t over because of one blowup fight.”
“You have to work at marriage and I know its hard,” Leakes says. “But to be married just 72 days, I feel badly for them. Not everyone can deal with pressures of reality TV. It’s about your career and not everyone can handle it.”
