Almost anytime Tracee Ellis Ross posts a photo on Instagram she gets comments about her resemblance to her famed mother Diana Ross. But looks isn’t the only thing that Tracee is getting from her mama.
Tracee was recently a part of former first lady Michelle Obama’s television series for children called “Waffles + Mochi.” The “Girlfriends” star had the opportunity to be on the series and sing “Freezie Day” with the puppets. According to the clip, “Freezie Day” is considered a holiday tradition on the show where they cook a feast and “eat real late.”
Tracee, who is the main vocalist on the song, got to show off her vocals, which is not something her fans get to see often. Many of them know her for her on-screen roles not for her singing. But it’s no surprise that she’s inherited those gifts since her mom, who is a Grammy award winner, also sings and acts as well.
Under her Instagram post, Tracee thanked Obama for having her as part of the special. She said, “It’s Freezie Day on @wafflesandmochiofficial! Thank you @michelleobama for inviting me to be a part of the Waffles + Mochi Holiday Feast and sing such a cute song! Streaming now on @netflix, and you can stream Freezie Day tomorrow 11/24 on all music platforms!”
In the comments section, her fans were so excited to hear her sing that they began asking how they could hear more of it. One person said, “WHEN WILL WE GET ALBUM FROM TRACEE ELLIS ROSS ?” Someone else added, “I love when you sing, your acting us amazing as well, but your singing is easy listening.” Another wrote, “TRACEE SINGING WE LOVE IT.”
Recently Tracee played the character of Grace Davis in the movie “The High Note.” Davis was a singer who was looking to do more in her career other than singing the same songs she did in her youth, but her team was not interested in that. In this role, Tracee also does some singing and has songs from the film that are now streaming on Apple Music.
