Porsha Williams‘ unstable relationship with her fiancé Dennis McKinley ended up being one of the biggest scandals on season 12 of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta.” McKinley, a businessman, cheated on Williams during and after her pregnancy with their now-1-year-old daughter, Pilar Jhena’ McKinley.
Throughout the season, fans watched their engagement unfold through a series of couple counseling sessions. Now, in a video posted May 4 to Bravo’s website, the Georgia peach revealed in a video posted the reasons McKinley gave for stepping out on their relationship.
While Williams and McKinley were attending therapy, McKinley told the “Dish Nation” radio personality that he cheated on her because of intimacy issues during the pregnancy and the stress he’d internalized from dealing with Williams’ postpartum depression.
On an after show segment of the show, the founder of Pampered by Porsha revealed she didn’t believe McKinley’s excuses. “When he told me he cheated because of postpartum depression, I took it and it rolled right off my back like water off of a duck’s back, because, first of all, we still had sex,” she explained.
“He was my biggest support system while I was going through it. … So I knew that was just something that maybe had a piece of it, you know? But I knew that wasn’t the whole reason of why he had stepped out,” she added.
The 38-year-old Williams suggested McKinley only thought about himself when he decided to be unfaithful. “People, when they talk about infidelity — they try to make up these big, big deep reasons. And really what it was could’ve been that we got together so fast, and this chick was still there. Maybe I wasn’t around and he just made a phone call. It could be really simple. It doesn’t have to be that deep,” she said.
“I think once we kept going to counseling, he came to that he did it because he was selfish, and that’s something he wanted to do. And he found out some things about me that we had never talked about before,” she stressed.
Although Williams forgave McKinley, her fans appear to be reluctant about Williams’ decision to allow McKinley to stay a part of her life.
“He cheated because he’s a cheater. Point. Blank. Period.”
“Your man is the snake.” Ain’t nothing truer than those words. Porsha, I understand that this is your baby’s fava, but this man ain’t it.”
“Porsha needs to leave Dennis alone. I’m sick of hearing them talk. Porsha is handing out too many passes.”
“Porsha is too desperate, he’ll cheat over and over again because he knows she will never leave. He can have his cake and eat it too.”
Williams and McKinley seem to be working out their relationship by continuing to go to counseling. They have not yet set a wedding date.
