‘A Family Affair’: Diddy’s Sons Set as Judges in ‘Making the Band’ Reboot, Casting Dates and Locations Announced

Sean “Diddy” Combs is bringing back the popular MTV series “Making the Band,” featuring the “Combs Cartel.” The music mogul’s sons Christian Combs, Quincy Brown and Justin Combs will serve as judges on the show. The news was revealed in a casting video that landed on the Internet Wednesday, Feb. 19. Casting dates and locations also have been announced.

In July 2019, Combs had announced in July that the program would be returning to MTV after being off the air for 11 years.

The trio will join original cast member, creative director and choreographer LaurieAnn Gibson to round out the judges.

Justin Combs (L), Sean “Diddy” Combs, Christian Combs and Quincy Brown serve as judges in Sean “Diddy” Combs’ reboot of “Making the Band.”

“The Combs Cartel is coming to a city near you,” said the Bad Boy founder and his sons Christian Combs, Quincy Brown, and Justin Combs.

“You know we had to be involved in the return of ‘Making the Band,’” said Christian Combs. “It’s only right. So stay tuned. It’s a movement.”

“We not settling for just anybody,” Brown followed. “If you feel like you got what it takes to compete in today’s industry, y’all know how our pops does it. So expect nothing but the best to be showing up.”

Auditions will take place in Atlanta from Feb. 28-29, Houston from March 7-8, Charlotte from March 13-14 and New York City from March 21-22.

Of course, “Making the Band” follows the premise of Combs creating a music group through auditions and then preparing the members to be professional entertainers.

The show ran from 2002 to 2009, and it birthed the groups Da Band, Day 26, Danity Kane, as well as the singer Donnie Klang.

After the clip made the internet rounds, people expressed that they’re eager for the show to air, which is supposed to be sometime this year.

“I can’t wait. I STILL binge watch the old shows,” someone wrote.

“I was such a fan of the show then. Can’t wait 🙌🏽,” another person commented.

Others said they were impressed that Combs brought his sons into the fold.

“A family affair. WOW!!!!” someone stated.

There were also people who had questions about what the show would look like in 2020 and what type of group would be put together.

“What kind of band is he looking for?” someone asked. “Rap, pop, boy band, girl group? It could literally be any of those. 😩”
