‘Severe Things Happened’: Wendy Williams Reveals ‘Intimate’ Romance with Rap Legend Eric B Wasn’t A Bed of Roses

Back in July, it was announced that Wendy Williams will have a biopic on the Lifetime channel that’s airing in 2020. And while a few details have already been given, not a lot has been revealed about what it will cover.

But on Wednesday’s episode of “The Wendy Williams Show,” the talk show host revealed at least one thing the biopic will get into: Her past relationship with hip-hop legend Eric B. of the group Eric B. & Rakim.

Williams brought up the DJ because she spoke to Rakim over the phone the night prior. And coincidentally, Eric B. was released from a New Jersey jail on Tuesday, after being locked up since Oct. 28.

The Queens, New York, native and “Blue Bloods” actor recently surrendered himself to a warrant from 2002 when he pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and resisting arrest. The charge stemmed from an incident that occurred one year prior.

Eric B.’s lawyer at that time told him that he didn’t have to appear in court and his case was dismissed. But that information was wrong, and he’ll appear in court again on Nov. 22.

“Ra, it’s so weird that we talked last night, because I had no idea this morning that we were going to be talking about Eric B.,” said Williams during her “Hot Topics” segment. “I never really knew Ra back in the day. I knew Eric B. intimately. Oh, it’ll play out in my Lifetime move.”

“A couple of severe things happened to me while I was involved with Eric B.,” she added. “Life lessons and you’ll see it because the movie is a teachable moment. While it’s going to be very dramatic, it’s a teachable moment.”

She then talked about Eric. B’s brief jail stint, and the studio audience made a collective sound to show sympathy, but Williams immediately stopped them.

“Don’t say Ahhh,” she told the crowd. “Not when I explain to you what he did to me. But you have to wait for the movie … I need the ratings. You’ll watch on Lifetime.”

But Williams gave a few details of her time with Eric B. when she was on the radio in 1999.

“First of all, I never had a home number,” she said then. “It was always pagers and mind you, we dated for over a year. Of course he had other women. This was eight years ago, and eight years ago I was still on top of my game in the radio career. So I really can’t figure out why I was this stupid.”

“Although we used to have good times together and go out on some great dates and stuff, a lot of his visits to my apartment would be like after two o’ clock in the morning,” Williams explained. “But I would accept it because rappers in the studio. But I also know they use that a lot in terms of cheating.”
