Peter Thomas, the ex-husband of “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Cynthia Bailey, didn’t mince words in his rebuke of the popular Bravo reality series, which has seen many a marriage and relationships fall apart.
In an Instagram post, Thomas slammed the network and issued a serious warning to the men who are lucky enough to still appear with their wives on “RHOA.”
“This housewife shit wasn’t easy,” the former reality star wrote. “Everyday was challenging because you never know how one minute while you’re all taping can make the world look at you when they see it.”
His criticism appeared alongside a clip from “RHOA” executive producer Andy Cohen‘s talk show “Watch What Happens Live,” where the host sat down for an exclusive interview with embattled “Real Housewives of New Jersey” couple Teresa and Joe Giudice. The pair, who served jail time for fraud, addressed their marriage, cheating rumors and their regrets about being on “RHONJ.”
Thomas is no stranger to the toll reality TV can take on a relationship, and bashed the network for what he argued was a smearing of the men who’ve appeared in its series.
“It was NEVER in the best interest of Bravo to show men in a positive light,” he added, tagging current and former “RHOA” husbands Apollo Nida, Todd Tucker, Gregg Leakes and Kordell Stewart. “Look at these people reality, I’m glad that I landed on my feet after all that was given.
He concluded his spiel with this nugget of advice: “Play the game, don’t let the game play you.”
Fans of the show soon made their voices heard in the comments.
“You are so right 👏🏻👏🏻,” one fan wrote under the post.
“All of the men were portrayed negatively back when he was on the show,” another chimed in. “I am glad he has moved on.”
Others weren’t as empathetic, however, and said Thomas knew what he was signing up for.
“C’mon you knew what it was when you started you saw dolla signs and got pimped,” one fan wrote, while another accused Thomas and Nida of acting as if they “were innocent bystanders on this show 🙄🙄.”
Thomas faced a setback earlier this year after his Sports One Bar & Lounge in Charlotte, North Carolina was slapped with a $237,000 tax lien, forcing it to close. As previously reported, the pub will remain shuttered for three to six months while Thomas and the bar’s legal representatives work to get the debt paid off.
