Weeks after Peter Thomas opened the newest location of his Bar One franchise in Miami, the one-time Bravolebrity has been forced to shut down his Charlotte, North Carolina, sports bar over tax concerns. And as a result, fans pondered about how his ex-wife Cynthia Bailey must feel.
Thomas opened Sports One Bar & Lounge in 2014 and launched Club One two years later. But a report emerged from TMZ Tuesday saying Sports One has been shuttered over a $237,000 tax lien. Sources said the bar promised funds to other efforts and wound up falling behind on tax payments. Apparently, the establishment will close its doors for three to six months during which time Thomas and the bar’s legal representatives will work to get the debt paid off.
But a glimpse at Sports One’s Instagram page reveals the bar and lounge had been closed since August to undergo renovations.
“We thank you for your continued support and your patience as we know that it’s best we make these changes before the start of Football season which we all look forward to every year!” read the August 19 post. “Prepare for some new and exciting changes as we introduce our fresh, new Food and Drink Menus!”
Three weeks later, the sports bar announced it will be “opening soon” but an exact date has yet to be revealed.
Meanwhile, Thomas reacted to TMZ’s report by taking the news in stride.
“Hard work never stop over here, got to get these people their money,” he wrote in a since-deleted Instagram post made Tuesday. “The shuffle hustle is real.”
But while Thomas is keeping his head up, fans of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” say his ex-wife Bailey did a good thing by ending their marriage in 2017.

Bailey has not responded to the report about Thomas’ tax lien. She’s busy soaking up the sun in Greece with her “RHOA” co-stars on their cast trip.
