It’s been a rough and winding road for Cynthia Bailey and Nene Leakes, and the former is now giving fans an answer as to where she and her one-time friend stand today.
“The Real Housewives of Atlanta” star spoke to E!’s “Daily Pop” Monday, nearly a week before season 12 of the reality show debuts. And according to Bailey, she and Leakes have made some progress compared to how things were left at the end of season 11.

“We are in a better place than we were at the reunion, which was an awful place. We’re better than that. But we’re not where we used to be, but you guys will see how it all plays out,” she says on Oct. 28. “It was really hard for me this season because — you know how it is with friends — regardless of where we’re at, I still have love for her, still have love for her family. It’s not like I just want to fight with Nene.
“In any case, I still have love for her and it was kinda good to at least try to get to at least a respectful place, whether or not we are ever besties again or not. And I was good with that,” Bailey continues. “I got a lot of personal closure this season. Because I’m in a great place in my life. I’m about to get married. I want to be around happy people that like me. So it’s kinda like, ‘Can we get past it?’ … Well, I’m past it so, we can have fun or you can just be mad at me.”
Bailey and Leakes got on the outs last season after the latter accused the model of failing to tell her Kenya Moore was going to attend Bailey’s Seagram’s Escapes beverage launch party.
“She has done a lot of stuff that you all just don’t get to see on the show that’s just, like, underhanded, and then I always come out looking like the bad guy. But she’s done a lot of f—ed up stuff,” Leakes said of her onetime best friend on her Instagram Live stream in March.
Bailey largely took the high road while maintaining she did not know for sure that Moore would show up to the event. And regardless of her rocky road with the O.G. “RHOA” star, Bailey maintained she would never rule out getting back on good terms with Leakes.
“I will always have love for her and I never say never,” Bailey stated to ABC’s “Strahan, Sara and Keke” in April.
