‘Ghostbusters’ Star Ernie Hudson Will Reprise His Role in the 2020 Revival

Ernie Hudson announced that he’ll reprise his role of Dr. Winston Zeddemore in the upcoming revival film “Ghostbusters 2020,” set to hit theaters next year.

After stating in July that he didn’t close a deal with the director of the film Jason Reitman, Hudson made the announcement via video that he signed on. The actor also said he’s having a splendid time on the shoot, which he told someone who’s a big fan of the original 1984 film.

“We’re shooting the new ‘Ghostbusters’ right now, coming out next summer, so I’m hoping that you’ll enjoy it as much as the other movies that we’ve done,” said Hudson wearing his Dr. Zeddemore jumpsuit. “I know that I’m having a blast doing them.”

Although many know Hudson for the original “Ghostbusters” film, as well as its 1989 sequel, his career spans over 40 years with roles on the big and small screen.

On television, Hudson played in shows like “The White Shadow,” “Arlis$$,” HBO’s “Oz,” “Scandal” and BET’s “The Family Business.” On the big screen, he played in films such as “The Hand That Rocks the Cradle,” “Sugar Hill,” “Congo” and “The Crow.”

And Hudson isn’t the only person from the original “Ghostbusters” cast to join, because in an interview last week Dan Aykroyd, who played Ray Stantz in the film, said he’d signed on as well. Others to appear include Finn Wolfhard, Carrie Coon, Paul Rudd and Mckenna Grace.

As for Reitman, he’s the son of Ivan Reitman, who directed the original “Ghostbusters” movie, and he said the storyline won’t have anything to do with the 2016 version that starred Leslie Jones, Rihanna, Melissa McCarthy and others.

“I have so much respect for what Paul [Feig] created with those brilliant actresses and would love to see more stories from [them],” said Reitman in a past interview. “However, this movie will follow the trajectory of the original film.”

“Ghostbusters 2020” is slated to hit theaters on July 20, 2020.
