Mo’Nique Seemingly Compares Steve Harvey to a Slave, Hardens Her Stance on Her Grievances With Hollywood

Following a spirited discussion that aired on “Steve” last week, Mo’Nique continues to stick to her guns when it comes to standing up for what she believes in — even if that means sharing a video deeming her longtime pal Steve Harvey a “sellout.”

On Friday, Feb. 15, the comedienne shared a video from @the_1hundred_club which defined selling out as “A common idiomatic pejorative expression for the compromising of a person’s integrity, morality, authenticity, or principles in exchange for personal gain, such as money. [1] In terms of music or art, selling out is associated with attempts to tailor material to a mainstream or commercial audience.”

The footage juxtaposed Harvey’s remarks to Mo during their Feb. 13 chat with clips from the 1977 miniseries “Roots” character Fiddler, who teaches Kunta Kinte about being a slave.

“This is the money game. This ain’t a Black man’s game, this ain’t a white man’s game. This is the money game!” Harvey says before the clip transitions to Fiddler several times.

“If I crumble, my children crumble, my grandchildren crumble,” Harvey adds.

“And it don’t take much coughin’ for the massa to make me have a cup of corn whiskey for my medicine,” Fiddler says at one point in the clip.

Then, the video transitions to Harvey, who tells Mo’Nique, “I cannot for the sake of my integrity, stand up here, and let everybody that’s counting on me, crumble so that I can make a statement.”

Fiddler says, “Now that is fine livin’ for a n—er, and I’ll be damned if any African Guinea man is gonna make me lose all I’ve been working for!”

The video transitions back to Harvey who says, “There are ways to win the war in a different way.”

“You better learn,” says Fiddler at the end of the clip. “You best learn or you gon’ get the bloody back for sure!”

Mo said the video collage, which seems to insinuate that Harvey has a slave mentality, “GAVE ME CHILLS! WHAT HAS CHANGED!!! Y’all I LOVE US 4 REAL!!! WE DESERVE TO LOVE US BETTER!”

Meanwhile, many fans applauded the comedienne, who stood by her call for a boycott of Netflix for what she says was its lowball offer to her to do a comedy special and maintains her grudge against Tyler PerryLee Daniels, and Oprah Winfrey in her Hollywood blackballing. Mo’Nique appeared unwilling to sit and talk with them or offer an apology at Harvey’s suggestion.

“Monique..I have a new found respect for you😀 Thank you!!! Never lose your Integrity. Continue to stand😍”

“You can’t lead the blind. Scared field n!@@”

“Damn! This is deep and our people really need to wake up and stop being bamboozled by the internet and social media.”

Harvey has not issued a response on Mo’Nique’s clip.
