“Love and Hip Hop: Atlanta” alum Erica Dixon is expecting twin girls and she couldn’t be more excited.
Dixon dropped the big news on social media this week when she figured out that she was pregnant with identical twin girls. She shared a photo of her bare belly, thanking her friends and family for keeping it a secret until she was ready to reveal the news herself.
“The love and support has been more than appreciated,” the 34-year-old mother wrote on Instagram Feb. 11. “This has been a difficult yet rewarding journey for me with the sickness and scares but we’ve conquered and will continue to💜.” She added in her caption that she was scheduled to give birth in May.
However, that’s not the most interesting part of Dixon’s second pregnancy journey. On her YouTube channel, she explained that she wasn’t purposely trying to conceive, but ended up doing so although while on Mirena. The birth control is an intrauterine device that’s supposed to last between four to six years.
“Wasn’t trying to get pregnant, this is something that I ain’t even gonna say kinda happened but it did cause I had a Mirena. … birth control,” Dixon told viewers. “I’m now convinced is just the devil. It works for some people, others it doesn’t work for.”
Although the father of Dixon’s unborn twins has yet to be revealed, fans still sent the mother-to-be tons of congratulations.
“Well this just made me smile ❤️,” one fan wrote. “Congrats. A blessing from God 😍.”
Another added, “Congratulations 🍾 on your baby girls. Imani is going to be an awesome big sister 💕.”
“Wow I’m so happy for you hunni, I was just thinking for women like you and myself who have our first young go through so much that we take our time to have a second so I’m sooooo happy to see your expecting! #blessings 👶🏾👶🏾,” a third fan exclaimed.
Dixon is the mother of 13-year-old daughter Emani who she co-parents with rapper Lil Scrappy. She and the Atlanta rapper got engaged in 2013 but split less than a year later due to Scrappy’s infidelities with other women. The pair engaged in a legal battle around 2015 after Dixon claimed Scrappy owed her $45,000 in child support.
Dixon told Bossip in 2016 that the rapper had been “penny pinching.”
“It was never about the money, at one point I was like ‘get her clothes’ and he said, ‘no I’m not gonna get her clothes to be at your house. This is so petty!” she explained. “I know you can do so much more, I don’t get a pat on the back for being a mother. If you gon be one [a father], don’t be one part time.”
