Although “Black Ink Crew: Chicago” couple Don Brumfield and Ashley Pickens appear to be in a great space relationship-wise, fans are still on the fence.
People can’t seem to get over the fact that Pickens continues to stay by Brumfield’s side despite his multiple affairs with other women. However, the pair told viewers they were doing just fine in their marriage while seemingly boasting about surviving their relationship woes.
“We went through the drama and the bulls–t, but five seasons later, we here,” Pickens told VH1 during a recent interview with her and Brumfield.

The mother of two said she and Brumfield met “years ago” through a mutual friend while living in Jefferson City, Missouri, in 2012. When joining “Black Ink Crew: Chicago” in 2015, the couple indicated they had no idea their relationship drama would be such a big deal on television. But Pickens said that despite the drama in their relationship they’re “still together.”
“We still together. Back then we started off as girlfriend and boyfriend, baby mama and baby daddy. Five seasons later we Mrs. and Mr. Brumfield,” Pickens said. She added that she’s not telling viewers to take their husbands back after they’ve cheated, but to merely “follow your heart.”
Brumfield chimed in by saying that maybe “people got something they can learn from us.”
“No relationship is perfect,” he added.
Needless to say, Brumfield’s remarks were not positively received by fans.
“Yes I can learn a lot from them 😅 ,” a fan wrote. “What NOT TO DO! Marriage is hard work but he’s too much work.”
Another fan chimed in, “Wait he said ‘learn from us’ 😅 yeah we Learned not to take a cheating Nigga back that had 2 babies on u 🙄 #cutdas*t.”
“He’s a dummy and she’s a bigger dummy for staying 😒. No Don and Ashley we didn’t learn s–t from ya’ll!”
During the couple’s time on the VH1 series, Brumfield fathered a baby by another woman during their relationship and failed to tell Pickens about it. He cheated on his wife with a colleague at 9MAG. Brumfield also hooked up with a stripper the day before his and Pickens’ wedding.
His latest cheating scandal came last season when the tattoo artist got caught on Snapchat cheating on his wife. He publicly apologized to Pickens and his kids. The woman he cheated with is claiming that she’s pregnant by him, allegations that have yet to be denied or confirmed.
