Lauryn Hill Angers French Fans By Arriving Two Hours Late, Playing For Just 30 Minutes: ‘We’re Working Through Kinks’

Lauryn Hill angered her fans again. This time in Europe, France and Belgium to be specific.

The singer is currently on a European run to celebrate the 20th anniversary of “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill” album, and she showed up to a show in France two hours late.

Lauryn also made her fans wait in the cold the entire time, and once she arrived only played for a mere 30 minutes then left.

She pretty much did the same thing the night before in Brussels and eventually apologized for both of those late shows.

“Dear Brussels and Paris, we apologize for the late start,” Lauryn wrote in a statement. “We’re working through kinks of moving the production to Europe. With time changes and curfew restrictions, we’ve had a few challenges in these early shows.”

“With deep gratitude I come on stage to perform an album that means so much to so many,” she added. “Everyday we push past inertia to present something sincere. Thank you for coming, supporting and for your patience and understanding. We’re excited about this entire European run and looking forward to the show tomorrow.”

As many probably know already, the extreme tardiness isn’t an isolated occurrence for Lauryn, and she’s built a reputation of showing up to concerts late, only to play unrecognizable version of Miseducation and Fugees songs.

In fact, her name was so muddied at one point, she wrote a lengthy Facebook message to explain the lateness.

“I don’t show up late to shows because I don’t care, and I have nothing but love and respect for my fans,” wrote Lauryn. “The challenge is aligning my energy with the time, trying to make it available for others. I don’t have an on/off switch. I am at my best when I am open, rested, sensitive and liberated to express myself as truthfully as possible.”
