Usher Fails to Get One of His Herpes Cases Dismissed, Laura Helm’s Lawsuit Heads to Trial

As Usher continues to battle his herpes allegations, the singer has not been able to get one of his cases dismissed.

Laura Helm accused the crooner of knowingly transmitting herpes simplex virus 2 to her when they had sex in 2017 and claims he did not inform her of his status with the sexually transmitted infection.

An Atlanta judge on Tuesday, Sept. 11 declined Usher’s request to have the case dismissed, Bossip reported.  In her ruling, Kelly Lee Ellerbe said Helm successfully argued  Usher caused her infection, which he previously denied in court documents. Ellerbe added the singer’s alleged neglect of Helm supported the plaintiff’s allegation that the “No Limit” singer intentionally caused emotional distress, one of the things Helm cited in her lawsuit. The others include negligence, battery and fraud.

When Usher sought to dismiss the case, he claimed Helm should have assumed the risks of engaging in unprotected sex but the judge’s order saw through that allegation. Additionally, Usher said that Helm didn’t prove he was the person who transmitted herpes to her and slammed her for not having condoms on her when they allegedly had sex.

But now that Ellerbe has dismissed Usher’s bid for dismissal, Helm’s case, which she’s claimed caused mental and emotional suffering, can head to trial.

The judge’s decision comes after Helms filed documents in July commanding Usher to stop pointing the finger at her and “playing legal games to get her case dismissed,” which was reported by The Blast.

This is the newest hit against Usher who also recently sold his Atlanta-area home for $1.1 million less than the initial asking price. It was the home he was keen on buying from his production pal L.A. Reid when he was a teenager and had bought for $1.2 million in 1999.

On top of that financial dig, he’s reportedly in the middle of a divorce from wife Grace Miguel.
