Nicki Minaj has a hefty decision to make after learning that her team accidentally sampled a Tracy Champman song.
The rapper took to social media on Tuesday and explained that her “Queen” album could possibly be postponed for a later release date. Minaj turned to her Barbz for advice and wrote on Twitter, “So there’s a record on #Queen that features 1 of the greatest rappers of all time…. Had no clue it sampled the legend #TracyChapman – do I keep my date & lose the record? Or do I lose the record & keep my date?”
The star then posted a survey for fans to vote on whether or not to keep the original release date on August 10 or delay the album for a week.
The Barbz were quite disappointed to hear the news and told the “No Frauds” artist to keep her original release date.
“This decision wasn’t easy. Most stressful decision of my life. Queen dropping August 10th. I love you,” one die hard fan wrote.
“Ily babe, but keep the date and put that record on the deluxe version 😩,” another social media follower suggested.
One fan added, “Onika, remember this is YOUR work. not ours, we will buy the album whether you drop it next week or next year. do what feels right in your heart baby! I know you will make the right decision.”
Minaj also reached out to Chapman through a tweet and added, “Can you please hit me. omg for the love of #Queen.” She has yet to hear back from “Give Me One Reason” singer.
The 35-year-old just celebrated her hit single “Chun Li” going platinum and thanked her fan base. It was also nominated for a VMA award and said it was “a cute little song I freestyled in a cpl mins.”
Minja and rapper 6ix9ine debuted their song together “FeFe” a few weeks ago and it streamed number one on “Apple Music.”
