Tamera Mowry Reveals ‘Racial Junk’ Impacted Her Relationship with Husband Adam Housley

Tamera Mowry says the beginning of her relationship with now-husband Adam Housley was filled with “racial junk.”

The Real” daytime talk show host explained how social media made the couple face racial backlash early on.

“We had a lot of outside things that kind of got in our way,” Housely explains on Yahoo’s “It’s Love.”

“Dealing with racial junk,” Mowry says. “It was when social media was taking off and it would come directly to us.”

Mowry has opened up about the backlash she’s gotten for dating a white man before, even tearing up on “Oprah: Where Are They Now?” in 2014 while discussing the matter in further detail.

“It’s hurtful because what my husband and I are so openly and we’re fine with showing is love,” she said. “But people choose to look past love and spew hate. That’s what hurts me because I’ve never experienced so much hate ever in my life. Ever.

“I get called ‘white man’s whore,’ she added while sobbing. “The new one was ‘back in the day you cost $300, but now you’re giving it to him for free.'”

She added that living in a household with a Black mom and a white dad, she “grew up seeing a family.”

Meanwhile, viewers who caught the video of the spouses, who have been married for seven years, took note of how they recalled the internet racism they’ve faced. They also shared their own stories of how growing up biracial has affected them.

“Cute! It’s not the color of your skin, although she’s definitely beautiful, it’s your heart that matters. And they both have a good heart.”

“True love is colorblind! Hate is deep and rooted in bigots’ hearts.”

“My father was white and my mother was Black, I was always embarrassed of my white side and I still am!”

“My mother was white and my father Black, I have a good relationship with most people on both sides of the families. I’ve also experienced racism from both sides. LOL!”
