Journalist Tamron Hall recently sat down on “Cape Up with Jonathan Capehart” and declared her family is “unapologetically Black and supportive of our community, but also unapologetically American and supportive of this country and what we represent.”
And while many would applaud the remark, it seemed to get under the skin of one Twitter user. He swiftly questioned why she had to mention her Blackness.
“Remind me why ‘Unapologetically Black’ is ok?” The Weekly Standard freelance writer Jeryl Bier tweeted before Hall responded thusly.
Remind me why it bothers you? Never mind you opted to Jedi mind-trick the rest of my sentence, hoping it would vanish. I also said “unapologetically American” But I can guess why you didn’t see it. 🤭 Enjoy the interview in full. https://t.co/tIHgzFXKHr

Bier said he was “wrong” for not reading the article before commenting and noted he had corrected his statement, but Hall was already on him.
“No need,” Hall said. “Your reaction to my saying ‘unapologetically Black’ triggered something enough so you tweeted before reading. I graciously decline your correction. All the best.”
In the meantime, a man by the name of Wesley Resists recommended Michael Eric Dyson’s “Tears We Cannot Stop: A Sermon to White America” to Bier. The book details the actions scholar Dyson expects from his white counterparts in Donald Trump’s America.
And while Bier said he may look into it, he said he is “not ‘white America.’ Yes, I am a white guy. But it ticks me off to have assumptions made about me because I am white, just as it should tick off Blacks for assumptions (stereotypes) made about them for being Black (or any race).”
Speaking of stereotypes, Hall used the term against Bier.
Sir you made me into a stereotype based on a headline. YOU saw the word black and not American. YOU decided to react rather than listen to the interview and now I am suppose to answer your questions. YOU keep waiting. With all due respect. https://t.co/BVVzuHTsR0

Regardless, the Investigative Discovery host had plenty of support from her followers, who had no issue with her proclamation.
“Unapologetically a Tamron Hall fan,” someone tweeted
“Tamron,” someone else said. “Best clapback of day. Period.”
