The presumptive Republican presidential nominee, Donald Trump, appealed to Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders’ supporters and — surprisingly — African-Americans during his victory speech after Tuesday’s primaries.
The lone-standing Republican is trying desperately to spin the media after pointing out the only Black person in his crowd of supporters at a California rally last week. So he vows to clean up the “shameful” urban areas in which African-Americans reside. In the 21-second clip, Trump promises to treat Black people better:
“We’re going to rebuild our inner cities, which are absolutely a shame and so sad. We’re going to take care of our African-American people that have been mistreated for so long.”
Twitter users were quick to point out the obvious attempt to pander to Black voters after last week’s gaffe.
