Black Twitter let out a collective “nope” directed at actress Nancy Lee Grahn Sunday night.
On the historic night where many on social media were celebrating Viola Davis becoming the first Black woman to win Best Lead Actress for a Drama series, others sought to derail the achievement.
On her social media account, soap opera actress, Nancy Lee Grahn, posted in a since deleted tweet:
The actress then tweeted:
I wish I loved #ViolaDavis Speech, but I thought she should have let @shondarhimes write it. #Emmys

It wasn’t before long until Black twitter saw the #AllLivesMatter reminiscent tweets. Users dragged Grahn until she eventually apologized for her offensive tweets. She issued the following apology.
I apologize for my earlier tweets and now realize I need to check my own privilege. My intention was not to take this historic and important moment from Viola Davis or other women of color but I realize that my intention doesn’t matter here because that is what I ended up doing. I learned a lot tonight and I admit that there are still some things I don’t understand but I am trying to and will let this be a learning experience for me.
Here are some of the best responses to Grahn’s shady tweet:
Equality 4 ALL (White) women. Cause you didn’t have shit to say when Juliana Margulies won it last yr. https://t.co/ZFnkfJ4nlZ — #WhoKilledKimKing (@LeslieMac) September 21, 2015
How have you won more #Emmys than Viola Davis but complain that you’re not afforded the same opportunities that she has, @NancyLeeGrahn? — April (@ReignOfApril) September 21, 2015
How can you type about acting opportunities when you ain’t been unemployed as an actress in 40 years, @NancyLeeGrahn?! — Charles Wade (@akacharleswade) September 21, 2015
A soap opera actress is really talking like she’s on the same level as Viola damn Davis, who snatched a scene from MERYL STREEP. — crissle (@crissles) September 21, 2015
