With the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards just a month away, host Kevin Hart recruited the web’s hottest couple, Kanye West and Kim Kardashian, to help him do some promotions.
MTV has released a brand-new promo video in which Hart makes his best attempt to form a bond between West and Kardashian, suggesting that the three of them wear matching outfits and shoes. But by the looks of it, Hart serves as the third wheel of his self-proclaimed trifecta.
In the hilarious ad, we see Hart looking in the mirror, assessing himself after he has just put on a tuxedo, and he’s talking to an unseen person in the other room about what they are wearing. When he pops into the room, we see that he’s talking to Kim—who is gazing down at her ever-present cellphone—and Kanye, who is sitting next to her on the bed.
Hart tells them they need to hurry and get dressed for the paparazzi downstairs so that they can debut the new “it” trio—the two of them with Hart thrown in. He starts suggesting various nicknames for the three of them, but when none of them appear to work, he finally settles on, “KKK.”
Then he looks at Kim and asks, “Do you have a white hoodie?”
“What?!” she says in shock, looking up at Kanye.
Though it is unknown what will come of newly formed trio, viewers will soon find out when the program airs live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Thursday, September 6 at 8:00 p.m. EDT.
Kanye West is nominated twice for Best Hip-Hop video, as well as one for Best Editing. Rihanna and Drake top the list for most nominations with five each. Other top nominees include Katy Perry with four, as well as newer artists such as Frank Ocean.
Viewers will have the opportunity to see live performances from Alicia Keys and One Direction among others.
