Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning was the star of the game, but it was a hit from Indianapolis Colts punter Pat McAfee on Trindon Holliday that stole the show.
Holliday was completely rocked by McAfee during the last few minutes of the first quarter while he was returning a 56-yard kickoff return. The punter’s hit was so hard that it raised some eyebrows, instantly prompting the league to issue McAfee a random performance enhancing drug test. Check out the hit in the gif below.
McAfee joked on Twitter, showing his random drug test letter from the league:
“Guys… Make one random tackle… And end up on a “Random” steroid test.. Must be my bod #UpperBodyOfAnAdolescent pic.twitter.com/s9B7LrS89Y— Pat McAfee (@PatMcAfeeShow) October 21, 2013.”
McAfee was never flagged for the hit and Pro Football Talk explained why:
“The hit by Pat McAfee on Trindon Holliday was helmet to helmet but not illegal. McAfee didn’t use the top of his helmet.— ProFootballTalk (@ProFootballTalk) October 21, 2013.”
The Colts defeated Denver 39-33, giving the Broncos their first loss of the season.
