Paul Giamatti In Talks To Join 'Spider-Man 2'

It seems like everyone is going to be in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Jamie Foxx, Shailene Woodley, and Dane DeeHan have been confirmed as new characters in the upcoming film, now Paul Giamatti and Felicity Jones might be added to that list as well.

As seen on The Hollywood Reporter, Giamatti would join the cast as Rhino, another nemesis for Spidey (Andrew Garfield) to defeat. Rhino was first introduced in The Amazing Spider-Man #41, created by Stan Lee and John Romita Sr. in 1966. Rhino is described by writer Mike Conroy as “Famously one of Spider-Man’s dimmest villains. Rhino hails from an Eastern Bloc country as a thug for hire. He dons a polymer suit that gives him superhuman strength and speed, plus a bad-ass horn on his head earning him the nickname “Rhino.” He’s one of the few villains that has a change of heart and later sides with Spider-man and fights for good instead of evil.

Giamatti last appeared in the musical made movie, Rock of Ages and is currently filming Parkland alongside Zac Efron.

Like Crazy’s Felicity Jones is also in talks to join Spider-Man 2, however her role is currently unspecified.

Director Marc Webb will likely begin shooting this February, so hopefully casting decisions are made soon.

Do you think Giamatti has what it takes to play Rhino?
