Cynthia Bailey recently provided insight into why the marriage between her and Mike Hill ended.
Bailey and Hill got married on Oct. 10, 2020, after dating for over two years. The pair announced their split in a joint statement on Oct. 12, 2022, days after Bailey and Hill failed to acknowledge their second wedding anniversary, leading fans and news outlets to believe that the former couple’s marriage was over.
In the Oct. 31 interview on “Two Ts in a Pod” podcast, Bailey revealed that the final straw came through realizing the two no longer were friends.
The former “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” star said at the 10:44 mark, “I felt like we weren’t friends anymore. I felt like it was just going toward we’re just not going to be friends if we didn’t pump the brakes. This is not my first rodeo. I think friendship just has to be there in a marriage. Like, love is great, but friendship has to be there. I truly want to be with my best friend.”
Also in the discussion, Bailey shared that since publicly announcing her pending divorce, she has experienced a series of emotions despite the reality of the two not regretting their decision to go their separate ways. She said, “I do have good days and bad days.”
The 55-year-old added, “I don’t think either one of us regrets our decision to move forward in the way we have decided to move forward. It’s not final yet. We’re still going through the process, so we’re still technically married. For me, there’s still just a lot of respect stuff on my end that I still feel like he’s my husband.”
Toward the end of the statement, Bailey disclosed that although the pair split a while back, she was still wearing her wedding ring until the day she and Hill shared the divorce announcement.
Bailey’s divorce announcement comes the same day after the model teased about her possible return to “RHOA” while on Sherri Shepherd’s daytime television show “Sherri.” During the Halloween-themed episode, while Shepherd mentioned that the cast was filming its 15th season, she asked Bailey if she planned to make an appearance.
Bailey responded, “I am focused on my acting career, however, after being at BravoCon all weekend long last weekend, I got the bug back again. I’m never going to say never but the fans just gave me so much love I was like, ‘I think I really miss this;’ we’ll see. Maybe soon.”
Bailey, who was on “RHOA” for 11 seasons, left the show last year to protect her marriage to Hill.
