‘You Look Exactly the Same’: Ashanti’s Visits Her Old High School and Shares Yearbook Photo, Fans Say She Hasn’t Aged

In 1998, Ashanti walked across the stage and received her diploma from Glen Cove High School, 24 years later the Hollywood Walk of Famer decided to take a trip down memory and visit her Long Island high school in celebration of the 20th anniversary of her self-titled debut album, “Ashanti.”

For her first stop in the school, the legendary singer surprised students during music class and discussed her own experience in the course. “I was here just like you guys; I did Oklahoma.”

She continued her speech by wishing the starstruck teens “nothing but good luck.”

The Grammy award-winning artist uploaded a video onto her Instagram where she walked the halls of Glen Cove and revealed a hung picture frame that included a photo of her younger self on the school’s wall of fame. As the singer drew closer to the wall, she noted that this milestone was, “so crazy.”

“I been lit; that’s my school hall of fame – wall of fame picture. Oh my gosh it is so crazy.” The “Foolish” singer said in her video.

Ashanti revealed she graduated high school at 16 years old, which wasn’t difficult to notice in her photo, due to her child-like half up-half down hairstyle. Curly bangs swept the side of her forehead while she brightly smiled in the black-and-white photo.

“Wow… went back to my old high school “Glen Cove High” to see my picture on the wall of fame with CBS [laughing emoji]” the actress captioned her minute long video.

Proud fans of her artistry could still detect physical similarities between senior year Ashanti and grown woman Ashanti, and indicated how she still manages to look very youthful.

“You haven’t changed one bit, still looking young and beautiful”

“Look exactly the same, gorgeous!”

Many fans found it unavoidable to not compare Ashanti’s adolescent features to those of her mother, Tina Douglas.

“All I see is your mom in that picture”

“Looking just like mama Tina in that picture.”

Television host Nate Burleston sat down with Ashanti earlier this week and asked, “How does your story end?”

Closing her eyes in order to vividly imagine her future life, Ashanti answered, “I think my story ends with an amazing legacy with me being happy and I think my story’s gonna end with an amazing family and husband and kids, being very proud and happy. When it does all go away, I’ll have my star and the family will be able to resonate on that forever and ever and ever.”
