‘Sometimes it Be Ya’ Own Mini!’: Serena Williams Shares Intense Tennis Court Match with Her Daughter, Olympia

As one of the most accomplished athletes in the world, Serena Williams is now training her daughter, Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr., to be just as fierce on the tennis court. The 23-time Grand Slam winner is teaching her 4-year-old the basics of the sport she began playing professionally as a teen.

On Tuesday, April 19, Williams shared a video featuring herself and her daughter hitting a few swings on the tennis court. The slow-motion video and sound effects give fans the impression that things got intense on the field — noting the sweat dipping down Williams’ face. The clip then jumps to Olympia’s adorable open-stance pose, with her giggling just before missing a tennis ball thrown over her shoulder.

“Sometimes it be ya own mini,” Williams captioned on Instagram.

Fans had a lot to say about their tennis performance in the comments, including Serena’s husband, Olympia’s father, Alexis Ohanian. He wrote, “I refuse to believe @olymphiaohanian missed that.”

Many described Serena and her daughter as “the dynamic duo,” presuming the video could be used in an ad or commercial. One person asked, “Is this gonna be a Nike commercial?” Here’s what others had to say.

“What an adorable Tuesday morning this is 💜. #GirlPower.”

“Haha! So so cute.”

“She got next.”

“So cute. That stance gets me every time.”

“LOVE! and the outfits are slamming ❤️❤️❤️.”

Many adored Serena and her daughter’s matching tennis outfits, which is usual for the mother-daughter duo. But a handful of fans wondered if this was Serena’s way of announcing her return to the sport she loves.

One person said, “Ready for the return, QUEEN.” Another added, “It’s time for the 24th Grand Slam title. Let’s go, Serena.”

Williams hasn’t played in a tennis tournament since retiring at last year’s Wimbledon in July, where she suffered an ankle injury. And now she’s preparing for an epic “comeback.” Earlier this month, Williams appeared on Instagram Live, where she revealed plans to train with NFL quarterback Aaron Rodgers after splitting from her longtime coach, Patrick Mouratoglou.

She said, “We’ve been talking about my comeback, and he’s been hyping me up and getting me ready for Wimbledon. Can’t wait!”
