‘I Needed The ‘Her’: Steve Harvey Shares How Wife Marjorie Harvey Helped to Transform His Career

Comedian and media mogul Steve Harvey has built a powerful career in entertainment, crossing industries and mediums and spanning over four decades. Fans have watched his growth since Def Comedy Jam, tuned into his hit ’90s sitcom “The Steve Harvey Show” and have lined up for every game show, talk show, radio show, clothing line, best-selling book, and beauty pageant his name has been attached to.

Despite his hustle, he attributes much of his success to his wife, Marjorie

In an interview with The Washington Post, he doted on his wife of 14 years and how important she is to his life.

He said, “There is not a great man I know that achieved greatness without a ‘her.’ ”

“Barack ain’t the dude without Michelle. You can go down the list,” he stated. “I needed the ‘her,’ and the ‘her’ for me has been instrumental.”

The “Family Feud” host was not talking about just any “her” but said the former fashion journalist was the “right her,” calling his spouse “a guiding force” in his life.

One way that Marjorie has impacted his life is by becoming his personal style and brand consultant. She updated his look, tossing out his signature flamboyant suits and replacing them with a designer wardrobe.

Steve has gone viral several times sporting looks his wife has pulled for him, helping him extend his career to an ever-growing audience demographic.

“The career that people see today? I can only tell you that it came from the peace she provided,” Harvey explains. “It freed my mind up to become the creative that I wanted to be.”

In January, the two celebrated his 65th birthday on a romantic vacation. The couple took to social media to share with their followers the blast they had on a yacht in an undisclosed crystal blue body of water.

Fans reacted to seeing the workaholic enjoying himself with his woman. One fan said, “Enjoy Steve Stop and smell the Roses.”

Another co-signed, saying, “Work hard you play harder. True inspiration model… Always love and respect to you and yours. Stay blessed homie…”
