Actress LisaRaye McCoy‘s fans were too stunned to speak on Feb. 22, after seeing the actress wear a non-white ensemble while attending her sister Da Brat’s wedding.
Da Brat married her partner and the founder of Kaleidoscope Hair Products, Jessica Dupart, at an undisclosed location, reportedly with a handful of guests in attendance.
The list included McCoy, radio personality Rickey Smiley and alums from “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” — Porsha Williams and Shamea Morton. The couple, which recently announced they were expecting their first child together, began dating in 2019, and got engaged two years later.
In the Instagram post shared on Smiley’s account, McCoy was seen wearing a purple cut-out top with lavender bottoms, as she sang along to a cover of Babyface’s hit single “Whip Appeal” with the comedian, Williams and Morton.
In addition to the clip, Smiley captioned the post, Me, @thereallraye1, @porsha4real, and @shameamorton singing @babyface’s #WhipAppeal on @sosobrat’s big day!!” As the upload began circulating online, many people expressed how shocked they were not to see McCoy in her signature color.
A social media user went as far as to claim that given the circumstances, “The Players Club” star’s decision not to wear white gives an idea of how much she loves her sister.
“McCoy has rocked that staple color for years.”
“SHE FINALLY WORE ANOTHER COLOR.”
“She’s not wearing white?”
“IS LISA NOT WEAR WHITE?! IS WHITE NOT ON LISA?! OMG I NEVER THOUGHT I’LL SEE THE DAY.”
“She loves her baby Sis cause she’s wearing something other than white. She might have actually been in the wedding too.”
Among the “white” outfit remarks, one individual mentioned the excitement of seeing McCoy attend Da Brat’s wedding following a public quarrel between the two. The actress and her sister were at odds in 2020, after McCoy revealed she was hurt that Da Brat came out to the world before informing her.
That person wrote, “Everybody talking about Lisa Raye not wearing white and I’m just happy to see her at the wedding following the drama in the tabloids….I really want to see them come to a common ground.”
