‘It’s Giving Whitney Houston In Waiting to Exhale’; Kelly Rowland Recreates a ’90s-inspired Updo Hairstyle, Fans React

Kelly Rowland is busy spreading the holiday spirit on a promo tour for her role in Lifetime’s upcoming film, “Merry Little Christmas Baby,” premiering Saturday, Nov. 27, at 8 p.m. EST.

On Wednesday, Nov. 24, the singer and actress took to Instagram to share a video of herself playing with her messy updo hairstyle in the mirror.

“Ok, so this morning we did a little updo, which is really fun,” said Rowland in the video. “Reminds me of the 90s. You know, that’s my favorite era. But I’m getting ready for more ‘Merry Liddle Christmas Baby’ promo fun.”

The former Destiny’s Child singer will reprise her role as Jacquie in “Merry Liddle Christmas Baby.” It follows Jacquie and her husband Tyler, portrayed by actor Thomas Cadrot, as they await the arrival of their first child.

Fans gushed over Kelly’s fashionable look in the post’s comments, calling her “gorgeous,” “stunning,” and everything in between. Some believed Kelly’s hairdo looked similar to one of Whitney Houston‘s most iconic movie roles.

‘It’s giving Whitney Houston in ‘Waiting to Exhale,’ ” wrote one person, while another referred to her as the “Black Barbie.”

“So beautiful,” wrote Bresha Webb, who also stars in “Merry Liddle Christmas Baby. “This good morning serving is too stunning.”

Beyoncé and Solange‘s mother, Tina-Knowles Lawson, also chimed in to share her remark, writing, “Gorgeousness. Could you be any more beautiful?” she wrote.

Former Destiny’s Child singer LeToya Luckett said the 40-year-old singer looked “Flawless.”

A fifth person asked Kelly Rowland, “How do you get finer with age?”

Along with the “Merry Liddle Christmas Baby” premiere this weekend, Rowland is also preparing to perform her new song, “Love You More at Christmas Time,” at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, which airs Thursday, Nov. 25, at 9 a.m. EST on NBC.
