Halle Berry has been open about her love life on Instagram and with her fans. While on “Live with Kelly and Ryan,” she dished on her relationship with her boyfriend, Van Hunt, and how her 8-year-old son, Maceo, whom she shares with ex-husband Olivier Martinez, approves, too.
After the hosts welcomed her onto the show, they were overjoyed to congratulate her on her “commitment ceremony.” Berry laughed, “It was a ceremony by an 8-year-old in the back seat of the car who said, ‘Mom, you should get married to him.’ And I said, ‘Really I should marry him?’ And he said, ‘Yeah, I pronounce you man and wife.’ We were like, ‘Oh, ok. We’re married.’ But we’re not married. So, that’s our commitment ceremony.”
Berry claimed it was a rumor and that she wanted to clear things up. However, she did mention that she was happy with her son’s reaction to her relationship as well. “What I love about it is, when you blend families, it’s really hard. So the good news is, my kids are comfortable and that’s all that matters. If they ain’t happy, we ain’t happy. That’s all you need. You just need them to be happy,” Berry said.
Berry has been official with Van Hunt since September 2020 and the relationship has drawn a lot of attention on Instagram. Berry posts many photos of herself with Hunt. Van even dished about their relationship back in March 2021, saying, “The inspiration for our relationship goes across everything, even in my parenting. I’m a completely different person, I can say it like that, and I think that it’s improved every aspect of my life.”
Berry believes that she has finally found the one for her, especially since he has truly integrated himself into the family. When Hunt turned 51, Berry and her kids celebrated with him. “Their family has this ritual where, and I don’t think she would mind me saying it, they get together and have just a small acknowledgement of the day and so they, you know, they immersed me into that and welcomed me into that, and it was just beautiful. It was just thoughtful and considerate and sweet, and that’s really the kind of person that she is, so, it was beautiful,” Hunt said.
Berry has mentioned in the past how difficult it can be to share her children with two different dads and how she only sees them half the time. In addition to Maceo, Berry shares her 13-year-old daughter with ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubry. That doesn’t seem to be stopping Berry and Hunt from creating their own little hub for her two children to come home to. Berry has said that she could picture herself settling down with Hunt.
This November, Berry releases her directorial debut “Bruised,” now in theaters and coming to Netflix on Nov. 24.
