Dr. Dre‘s ex-wife Nicole Young is serious about getting what’s owed to her from the producer and has involved the police in her latest attempt to collect alleged past-due legal fees.
Young’s legal team has filed a writ of execution against Dre, born Andre Young, and are seeking $1.2 million for past court-ordered legal fees, accusing him of deciding to only pay $300,000. In court documents obtained by Radar Online, Nicole and team accuse the Beats By Dre creator of being “enormously entitled” and seeking to punish Nicole “by decimating her financially.”
“Andre is doing whatever he wants to do because he is an enormously entitled and well-funded litigant who seeks to exact revenge on his former wife by decimating her financially leaving her without legal representation in this case,” read the documents.
The writ instructs the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department to “enforce the judgment” for Dre to pay the full sum of $1,224,607, with an additional $335 of interest per day. Once paperwork is served to the Aftermath Entertainment founder, Young could move forward with imposing the judgment against his bank accounts to collect.
Divorce proceedings between the two exes have gotten increasingly ugly, with reports just last month of Dre being served with legal documents, also pertaining to Young’s legal fees, during his grandmother’s funeral. Young’s representatives clarified that the former N.W.A rapper was served in the parking lot after the burial.
Nicole is seeking half of the Grammy Award-winning artist’s estate, including $4.2 million for legal fees so that she can cover expenses in their ongoing battle. According to documents from reports in September, “Nicole has assets totaling approximately 39 million dollars and Dr. Dre has approximately 243 million dollars.” In July, Dre was reportedly ordered to pay Nicole $300,000 in temporary spousal support.
Young filed for divorce in June 2020, citing irreconcilable differences. The pair was married for 24 years.
