Dr. Dre‘s daughter LaTanya Young has taken action weeks after alleging she was homeless and living out of her vehicle because her father refused to provide her with financial assistance for nearly a year-and-a-half.
Earlier this month, the oldest daughter of the super producer appeared in an interview with The Daily Mail where she claimed that she hadn’t heard from her estranged father in almost two decades and that their communication was through the former NWA member’s lawyers. She also told the outlet that she was currently working for food delivery service Door Dash to make ends meet while her four children stayed with a close friend. Now the 38-year-old woman has appeared to have created a GoFundMe account in order to seemingly speed up those efforts.
The campaign, with a goal of $50,000, was created a week ago and said it was created by the mother of four with a description that reads, “This fundraiser is to help Latanya and her four kids find a safe and stable home. She is currently working at DoorDash to keep afloat and these funds will be deeply appreciated. Thank you so much❤️.” As of late, the account has raised more than $6,000 in donations.
“I think GoFundMe campaigns are for people in desperate situations, and I’m in a desperate situation,” Young told the outlet regarding the campaign, noting that while she didn’t want to accept any “handouts,” she was appreciative of anything that was offered. “I have worked all my life, and I know how to work for money, but I’m in a difficult place right now. I believe in investing in your kids. That’s what I want to do for my kids, so they are never in a position like I am right now,” she added.
Dr. Dre, whose real name is Andre Romelle Young, has yet to address his daughter’s claims. His child is the latest Young family member making recent headlines about the “What’s the Difference” emcee. As previously reported, the 56-year-old is currently in an ongoing divorce with Nicole Young. The lawyer filed for divorce from her estranged husband in late June after 24 years of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences. They share two adult children, son Truice and daughter Truly.
Meanwhile, Young says she hasn’t given up on repairing her alleged strained relationship with her father. “I know my dad is a busy man, but I hope he will see it and reach back out to me on a father-daughter level,” she said.
