Halle Bailey took to Twitter on March 5 to seemingly respond to Mathew Knowles’ “idiot” comments about her sister Chloe Bailey being compared to a younger version of her mentor Beyoncé. The “Do It” singer shared three separate tweets defending Chloe.
Halle started by saying how great her sister is, “How amazing is it that @ChloeBailey is already an icon.” A short time later, the 20-year-old added, “Just popped in to say that ..” Halle concluded her tweet by telling her fans she will always “ride” for Chloe no matter what. “I ride for my sister till the enddd okayyyy.”
Fan commended Halle for standing up for her sister. Some even compared their bond to Beyoncé and Solange Knowles’ relationship.
“Period as she should 💯.”
“Just like that. Ride for your sis👏👏👏”
“Don’t get it twisted.. Chloe is to Beyoncé as Halle is to Solange elevator fights and all.”
“She definitely gives Solange Energy.”
“Little sisters don’t play. Matthew better watch out 🤣🤣.”
As many fans praised Halle for defending her sister, others felt Knowles wasn’t wrong for saying those harsh comments once he heard people were comparing Chloe to Beyoncé. One wrote, “I mean that’s his daughter… who you think he gonna ride for? 🥴😂.”
Another said although she felt Halle’s gesture was cute, Knowles wasn’t entirely wrong for guarding Beyoncé’s legacy. “That is his daughter though lol I think it’s cute❣️.”
An Instagram user expressed that an average parent would be defensive of anybody comparing their child to someone else. “A father should feel this way! ‘No shade to anyone else, my daughter is the GOAT!’ I know my father would say that about me & I can’t sing at all! Lol.”
On March 3, Knowles appeared as a guest on an online show where he shared his opinion on fans that said Chloe reminded them of a younger Beyoncé.
He said, “You got to be kidding me, right? You asking me that question? Are you actually serious that you are comparing that young lady to Beyoncé. Are you telling me talent-wise somebody is an idiot enough to compare her to Beyoncé? That’s actually insulting to Beyoncé.”
