Chloe Bailey and Jordyn Woods are reminding folks that it is OK for women to succeed at the same thing without being compared.
On Tuesday, Feb. 2, Bailey and Woods were talking on IG Live when the topic of the “Buss It Challenge” came up. The popular TikTok trend is a challenge that both of the ladies, among many other female celebrities, took on, causing quite the uproar on social media among users and fans.
In a clip from the IG Live, Woods said, “After you posted yours I was like, ‘OK, I can’t post mine.’”
Laughing, Bailey responded, “No, you killed it, girl.”
Woods continued, “But I was like ‘You know what, I’m going to post it.’ But it’s just funny because I go on Twitter every day and I see people, and then I see people putting us up against each other too. She added, “I’m like, look, we’re friends.”
Bailey concurred, saying, “I know. I don’t like that because I think it’s so beautiful when women support each other. She added, “you don’t have to dim your light to let others shine.” Continuing the metaphor, she recited the aphorism “you can light another candle and the other one is still lit,” adding to her point that it is OK for everyone to win.
With so many celebrities undertaking the challenge, naturally fans have been commenting about who they think had the best performance. Bailey seems to be the one most fans crowned as the winner of the trend, therefore fans constantly are comparing the participants’ attempt at the trend to Bailey’s.
Nevertheless, Woods still had her boo thing in her corner cheering her on. Minnesota Timberwolves center Karl-Anthony Towns tweeted, “God is good,” adding a gif of a wide-eyed man getting closer to the camera.
Other women who have joined in on the challenge are Yung Miami, Joseline Hernandez, DaniLeigh, and Iggy Azalea.
