T.I.’s oldest daughter Deyjah Harris reveals that she is still dealing with the effects of her father’s comments about chaperoning her to the gynecologist’s office.
On Jan. 21 she allowed her fans to ask her questions and make comments on her Instagram Story. One of those fans suggested that the 19-year-old “should do the buss it challenge,” a challenge that originated on Tik Tok but has since blown up all over different social media platforms. In the challenge, participants come on the camera looking plain, then switch into a much nicer look as they twerk to the beat.
Responding to the fan, Harris typed, “i was telling my mom i was gonna do it but (without the twerking and all that) and she was like yeah that’ll be super cute…..BUT i already know what some of the comments are already gonna say (don’t we all).”
She continued, “I just don’t have time to keep explaining myself or saying the same thing over and over and over again…so i’ll just sit this challenge out💀💀 y’all are definitely killing it though🗣😍🦾.” She then left examples of what disturbing comments she would receive if she did partake in the challenge. She wrote, ‘oh yeah she definitely f***ing now, hymen check, her pops making the appointment rn, she not no virgin no more, etc.’ all that stupid a sht🙄🥱👌🏼.”
These comments stem from a 2019 episode of the podcast “Ladies Like Us” where T.I. was being interviewed. While discussing having the sex talk with his children, T.I. said he escorts Deyjah to the gynecologist’s office every year to make sure that her “hymen is still intact,” which he claimed would confirm to him that she was still a virgin.
Later T.I. and Tiny visited the “Red Table Talk” Facebook show, where T.I. tried explaining where he was coming from as a father and shared that he apologized to Deyjah.
Deyjah’s reaction to her father’s comments play out on an episode of “T.I. & Tiny: Friends and Family Hustle.” To her cousins, she said, “I’m very shocked, hurt, angry, embarrassed.” She continues, “I’m embarrassed definitely, for sure. I’m trying to put it in the back of my mind so I’m not really thinking about it. I know it’s not healthy. But I’ve been doing that since I was a child.” Tearfully, she said that the situation would make her look her relationship with her father “differently” and the whole brouhaha remained “traumatizing” for her.
It seems like the two have since tried to move on from the situation, but some fans won’t let Deyjah get past it.
