Bow Wow has a message for the “old head” rappers in the game, and in an unusual change of pace, the Internet agrees.
The 33-year-old rapper shared an Instagram Stories note with his followers, addressing the hate he’s seen in the hip-hop industry that he feels is coming from the more seasoned generation and aimed at young up-and-comers.
“Some of these older guys are starting to look like haters,” he wrote. “You not pose to understand the music but lets praise these young artist for making a way for themselves. Some of yall old heads have to accept its over and find a new way to continue on your legacy. Doesnt look good on yall resume.”
He then went on to share words of encouragement with the burgeoning generation of rappers, letting them know that he’s in their corner. “I love what these young brothaz is doing! Keep it up you guys are now!”
Although the “Like You” rapper didn’t give any insight into whom he was addressing specifically, fans largely agreed with his sentiments, although they still made sure to be a bit backhanded as they did it.
“Okay, Bow Wow finally said something that makes sense,” commented a follower.
“For once I agree with him 💯,” wrote another.
“Between seeing him be a bomb ass dad to making statements like this… keep it up and I just might start calling this n***a Shad fr 😂,” a third laughed.
“Long as he know we don’t want no more music from him I’m cool wit what he said 🤷🏽♂️,” clowned a fourth.
“Okay Bow Wow speaking his grown man s–t,” a fifth noted.
Sustaining a 20-plus-year career in the hip-hop industry qualifies Bow Wow as an “old head” himself, and fans have been trying to encourage him to show the younger generation how it’s done by participating in a “Verzuz” battle, preferably against Lil Romeo or Soulja Boy. Moss has made it clear, however, that he has no plans on agreeing to the competition anytime soon.
