Gabrielle Union‘s baby girl Kaavia James is giving new life to the phrase “flower child.”
The 48-year-old “Being Mary Jane” actress and her adorable 2-year-old daughter, lovingly known as “Shady Baby,” spent some time soaking up the sun, while also taking in the beauty of the sunflower patch that’s flourishing in their backyard.
In a series of images posted on Nov. 15, Kaavia appears to be having a great day hanging with her mother and Mother Nature. Union’s fans know that little Kaavia loves good mean mug (and she’s great at it!) so when a few non-scowling moments of the adorable toddler, who even wore her flower-printed dress for the occasion, were caught on camera, it felt like a victory for all.

Seeing Shady Baby herself showing off her adorable, yet rarely captured, smile was enough to make fans’ day.

The “L.A.’s Finest” star isn’t in denial about her daughter’s hilariously stoic facial expressions. In fact, she feels that while Kaavia’s face may look like hubby Dwyane Wade, the ‘tude is all mom. “She looks just like Dad, but I’d like to think the attitude is from me,” Union told People. “She will stare into your soul and tell you about yourself through her eyes.”
Kaavia James turned 2 on Nov. 7, and the Wades both shared heartwarming tributes to their youngest on her birthday, which she also happens to share with Wade’s mother, Jolinda Wade.
