Tamar Braxton Hits the Unfollow Button on Entire Family After Accusing Them of Staging Their ‘BFV’ Reactions to Her Apparent Suicide Attempt

It looks like drama is brewing within the Braxton family. On Wednesday, Oct. 21, Tamar Braxton went on an unfollow spree on Instagram after accusing her family members of faking their reactions in front of We TV cameras to her purported suicide attempt.

A teaser for the new season of “Braxton Family Values” was released earlier in the day on Wednesday, and the prime focus of it was Tamar’s supposed suicide attempt. It begins with Toni Braxton saying “2020 has been a year like never before for me and my family,” followed with a clip of Toni finding out about the incident while in the studio. It then cuts to Tamar’s mother, Evelyn Braxton, and her sisters, Towanda and Trina Braxton, giving their reactions.

Shortly after the arrival of the trailer Tamar took to social media and said, “After waking up to that disgusting trailer…F-CK @wetv and whomever else participating for using my pain for their pleasure and ratings don’t miss my exclusive TELL ALL on my girl @tamronhallshow next week..at some point this abuse HAS to STOP.”

She later took to the The Shade Room’s comments section to further explain, saying, “And just to clarify… I’m not shooting for bfv or any other show for wetv since December of LAST YEAR why are they talking about me?? Wtf??”

A viewer of the clip went on Twitter to give her opinion, writing, “Wait!!!!! WeTv was recording BFV when Tamar was going through it and they still used it for ratings after she voiced her issues with them? This is crazy because I just saw it and WOW!”

Tamar retweeted and commented on the tweet to give more insight on the situation responding, “No pumpkin they wasn’t. it’s ALL re staged for tv. And that’s my fckn issue. Remember @wetv said we have parted ways in August. I am no longer employed by them and they are STILL using me and my hurt to make a coin. What show talks about old cast members?”

Although it was only Evelyn, Trina, Toni and Towanda who were seen giving their reactions, Tamar decided to hit that unfollow button on everyone, including Traci Braxton.

Tamar is giving her side of the story on the “Tamron Hall Show” which will be airing on Oct. 28.

Independent journalism doesn't fund itself.

We hope this story was worth your time. For over 14 years, Atlanta Black Star has stayed Black-owned and independently run. We didn't get here by waiting on ad budgets that were never built to prioritize us. Our readers did that.

Corporate support for Black media has always been thin. Outlets like ours get roughly 1% of the $170 billion spent on U.S. advertising each year, and that margin is shrinking further as advertisers walk back the DEI-linked commitments they made in 2020. That's the backdrop. It's not why we're asking.

We know a request for support isn't why you came here. But without readers choosing to fund this work directly, the depth of reporting we can do at home and abroad shrinks along with everyone else's. If you're not in a position to give, that doesn't change how much we value you as a reader.

If you are able to, a recurring contribution does more for us than a single one-time gift, because it lets us plan the next investigation instead of just the next invoice. It takes about 30 seconds, no long form, no account. Thank you for continuing to support independent journalism and freedom of the press.
