Trina Braxton and a few of her besties spent the day at Lake Lanier, and some people weren’t here for the “Braxton Family Values” cast member soaking up the sun in the water. The 45-year-old reality star showed off their fun water day in a series of photos she shared to Instagram on Friday, Aug. 7.
Donning a black one-piece swimsuit with a swooped neckline and dark shades and hoop earrings, Trina smiled for the camera and looked as if she were having fun in the water. Her close friend sported the perfect beach outfit, including a periwinkle blue bikini top with a black swim skirt and rainbow shades. The mother of two explained in her caption that she was “loving lake life.”
Fans instantly gravitated toward the photo and expressed the idea that Lake Lanier is dangerous. One user wrote underneath the image, “I live nowhere near Georgia and know this lake isn’t safe and I dont see any of your peers around sooooo 😒,” while another person said, “LAKE LANIER! get out Trina!” Comments including “Get outta that water Trina!!! You know that lake is cursed 😯🥺⚠️⛔” and “Ohhhh noooooo! Not Lake Lanier! Hard Pass!!! 🥴 also rolled in underneath the photo.
Lake Lanier reportedly is known as one of America’s most deadly lakes. Since 1994, according to numbers provided to Atlanta Black Star by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, there have been 74 boating fatalities on Lake Lanier. Since 1999, there have been 127 drownings there. On July 6, 2012, Usher’s former stepson Kile Glover and a 15-year-old girl were riding on an inner tube that was being pulled by a boat when a personal watercraft ran over him. Kile was hospitalized and declared brain dead after the incident. His parents Tameka Raymond and Ryan Glover made the emotional decision to remove their son off life support.
Considering the amount of tragedies that has taken place at the lake, it seemed surprising to some fans that Trina would go. She has yet to address the backlash she received from fans.
