There is no greater friend than a twin! Monday, July 6, marked a special holiday for Tia Mowry-Hardrict and Tamera Mowry-Housley. The former “Sister, Sister” actresses turned 42 years old and celebrated their birthdays by writing beautiful tributes to each other on Instagram.
Tia’s sweet message to her twin sister reflected on their close bond, grief, and how the pandemic has affected their relationship. “#happybirthday to my womb mate @tameramowrytwo Wow! is all I can say,” she captioned a series of photos showing the pair dressing alike over the years. “Being a #twin is a #blessing. We have experienced so many #milestones together. Just to name a few. We booked #Sister,Sister together, we won our first #nickelodeon #kidschoiceawards together, we #graduated from #college together.”
The “Family Reunion” actress added: “We traveled the world to together and unfortunately we also experienced #grief together. When our #grandmother died, I will never forget us sleeping together in the same hotel bed to comfort each other. #God blessed us to come into this #world together because he knew we couldn’t do it alone. Love you sis! Love you my #twin.”
Tia suggested that she has not seen her sister in “so long” because of the coronavirus outbreak and mentioned that her ultimate birthday wish was for the world to conquer the pandemic and “vanquish all #prejudices,” including “social economical statuses, to racial prejudices and sexual preferences.”
Tamera payed homage to Tia on their birthday by sharing a throwback photo of them at a fun photo shoot. “Sissy!!!! My twinie twin twin!” she said. “Ride or die since birth. Happy birthday!!!! When we are together I can’t wait to wrap my arms around you, sniff you like we always do (ta hee-hee) and giggle till the sun comes down. I love you very much TT! #twins #sisters #happybirthday.”
The talk show co-host of “The Real” also posted a photo of herself and revealed in her caption that in turning 42 she was grateful for her life, claiming that her age is a “powerful angel number.”
While many people raved over their close bond, others were surprised to see that the childhood stars actually grew up before their eyes. “42?! I didn’t even know they hit 40 yet,” someone said. Another user wrote, “Yess 42 where 🤷🏾♀️happy birthday to them so unproblematic,” while a third fan gushed: “Omg but they look younger😍.”
The sisters are undeniably close. Tia explained in a March interview with “Entertainment Tonight” that she missed seeing her twin, her brothers Tahj Mowry, 34, Tavior Mowry, 27, and her parents Timothy and Darlene Mowry during the pandemic. At the time she was crying, but she later explained that her family has been connecting through FaceTime.
