Kandi Burruss, a longtime cast member of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” recently broke her silence about the new cast changes for the upcoming season. On Memorial Day, TMZ reported that Yovanna Momplaisir would be promoted from a friend of the show to an official housewife in season 13. Momplaisir was exposed as “the snake” during season 12 for allegedly recording her co-star Cynthia Bailey dragging Nene Leakes.
Burruss posted a video on her YouTube channel on Thursday, May 28, to address the rumors that Momplaisir secured a peach. Burruss and the general manager of Kandi Koated Entertainment DonJuan Clark began the conversation by opening up about part 3 of the “RHOA” reunion during the “Speak On It” segment of the chat.
During the final reunion episode, Momplaisir claimed that Leakes told her to secretly record the cast because Leakes wanted to know if the other women were talking about her behind her back. Burruss hinted in her YouTube video that she did not believe the socialite’s defense because her story was too inconsistent.
At the 4:19 mark, Burruss said, “She’s not credible. She already one time said that it didn’t happen, and then she came back and said it did happen but she was only doing it because … So it’s just like, girl, like, bye. Like, it’s no way to me you’re gonna justify recording somebody. Are you that much of a follower that you would go and record people just because the other person told you to, she asked?”
Some fans who reacted to the video expressed the idea that they believed Momplaisir was responsible for recording the ladies instead of the 52-year-old Leakes.
“I still feel like Yovanna lied. She was trying to set y’all up to be a part of the show.”
“I think Yovanna made the recordings but won’t admit to it for fear of being sued.”
“I feel YoYo did it on her own to try and win Nene over.”
While some people believe that Momplaisir scored a full-time position on the show, the singer-songwriter hinted that that might not be the case. Burruss revealed that the ladies have yet to receive their contracts, despite rumors that the cast received their letters after the reunion.
At the 42:00 mark, Burruss said, “They haven’t sent out the letters just yet.” Clark mentioned that he heard Momplaisir got her letter. “Well, I can’t say if I heard anything about her getting no letter, so I’ll believe it when Bravo tells me,” Burrus replied. “So we’ll see what happens next season. I mean, hell, ain’t nobody got they letters as of now, really.”
