Doja Cat got a little miffed after some accused her of lightening her skin.
On Tuesday, March 10, YouTube placed Doja on a playlist that features a large number of women who are making names for themselves in hip-hop. Doja’s image was used for the playlist, and in the comments some said she looked lighter than usual.
“Okay Doja’s light but she’s not THAT light come on,” someone wrote.
Others shared the same opinion, while some accused the editor of the photo of lightening Doja’s skin.
Doja responded on Instagram Stories after becoming aware of the chatter and didn’t seem very pleased about it.
“So, if you’re stupid as f–k, you probably left a comment under this picture talking about this,” she said in a clip of herself looking at some of the comments. “Hey, how about I’m half white, not entirely Black? My skin gets very light when I don’t tan. I was staying indoors a lot before that shoot. New f——g subject. Dumba—s.”
There were some who seemingly picked up on Doja’s frustration right away.
“She not letting sh– slide😩🤣,” wrote one Instagram user.
A bunch of people also said criticizing Doja is ridiculous, especially since her biracial background is no secret.
“This is the dumbest s–t ever!.. ignorance is at an all time high,” someone commented. “Let her be who she is! This foolery has to stop..y’all need to mind ya damn business.”
“I mean she really that light tho naturally 🤷🏽♂️,” wrote a third person.
There were others who said they understand why Doja might look lighter at times, because they go through the same thing.
“I get pale when the fall and winter comes around,” one person wrote. “I become a caramel complexion in the spring and summer. It’s common sense. Your skin tone changes. ugh!!”
“I’m black and my skin gets pale too,” a second person stated.
