Wendy Williams caught the world’s attention when she revealed that NeNe Leakes would not be returning to “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” after this season. Williams began to tear up on the Jan. 21 episode after telling her fans that Leakes texted her that morning and said she was quitting the show. The Swagg boutique founder opened up to viewers about the real reasons behind the talk show host’s tears, and she set the record straight about departing from the hit reality show.
Williams seemingly regretted telling her audience that Leakes was parting ways with the Bravo show, hence, the reason she was crying. Leakes said, “I feel like she started to cry because I think she realized, ‘Oh my God, I just probably said something just then that I shouldn’t have said and NeNe is going to kill me.’ “
In addition to Williams claiming Leakes was quitting her show, Williams revealed that Leakes was harvesting a life-changing secret. She begged her friend to stay on the show and explained that she needed to keep her platform to explain the other part of her life. Williams told the audience whom she affectionally refers to as co-hosts, “I know something about NeNe that you all will cry, be sad, feel bad for her. She’s carrying the weight of a huge thing on her shoulders.” The host revealed that she cried after learning her friend’s painful secret.
Leakes explained to Essence that she had no idea what secret Williams was insinuating that she had. However, when the pair talked on the phone, Williams asked her how could she fix what she said about her on television.
The “RHOA” cast member admitted that she has no plans to leave the show next season. She went on to explain that when she texted Williams regarding her departure that she was simply having a bad day. The two television personalities have been friends for quite some time. Williams made a guest appearance via telephone on the March 1 episode of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” after Leakes called her seeking advice about attending an event put together by her nemesis, Kenya Moore.
