Love him or hate him, comedian Steve Harvey is a man who is a jack of all trades. His body of television and radio gigs include “The Steve Harvey Morning Show,” “Family Feud,” and the list continues.
Now, the 63-year-old also has a keynote speaker added to his already impressive résumé because he was asked to be the keynote speaker at the SkyBridge Alternatives Conference (SALT) in Las Vegas in May 2019.
Harvey explained in his Twitter post on Friday, Feb. 21, that it was nothing but God that got him to speak at a conference where political figures, hedge fund mangers, personal investors and others from the world of high finance unite for a wide-ranging event that the Washington Posts called “a sort of Davos in Vegas.” The event was founded by Anthony Scaramucci, who is perhaps best known for being hired and fired within 11 days as President Donald Trump’s communications director.
“I was the keynote speaker at the Salt conference. It’s a conference where billionaires from around the world gather,” he wrote in his Twitter post. “I’m not a billionaire; it surprised me when I was asked to speak. You’re going to be surprised why they wanted me to speak. Nothing but God!”
Harvey questioned the man who approached him with the speaking offer: “What can you all learn from me?”
He said the man responded by saying, “everything.”
“‘The reason we want to hear your story is because the majority of us that are billionaires, we inherited some money, and we grew it,'” Harvey claimed the man added.
“‘You come from nothing,'” the billionaire continued. “‘What we want to know is how you got to where you are after coming from nothing.'”
Harvey claimed the billionaire also wanted Harvey to explain how he survived living in a car for three years and flunking out of school just in case something happens to him and the other attendees.
Harvey said what he told the billionaire at the conference is the fortitude that he had developed and the faith he had. He noted that anyone could be successful.
