Singer Keyshia Cole let it be known she’s not feeling rapper OT Genasis’ rendition of her early 2000’s hit single “Love.”
The track was featured on Cole’s 2005 debut album “The Way It Is” and peaked on Billboard charts at the time. Although it’s been nearly 15 years since the song was released, it still appears to be a classic and apparently remix-worthy, according to OT Genasis.
The “Everybody Mad” rapper shared his own version of the song to Instagram this week titled “Never Knew.” He added a “Crip” touch to the single and belts out the notes, “And it’s killing me in third degree I shot my op from a distance. What you see in cuz, you don’t see in me/when I’m done you gone know ain’t make believe. Cuh-uhh/never knew that I was crippin/even a n–ga get to trippin.”
It seems OT’s video and song was all done in fun, but Cole apparently didn’t think so.
On Friday evening, a fan of Cole’s tweeted, “I ain’t never gone listen to @KeyshiaCole song the same anymore 😭🤣.”
Cole responded, “Exactly. Not Cool.”
Although she didn’t go into detail about OT’s version, she reportedly blocked a user, who claimed the rapper’s rendition was better than hers. To add more fuel to the fire, she re-posted a fan’s tweet that read, “I don’t charge for features. Never have. Never will. If I f–k with you I just do it. If i don’t f–k with you idgaf what the bag is, it’s not happening,” which some took as a subliminal message aimed at OT.
The “Cut It” rapper has yet to respond to Cole’s remarks.
Social media users have had mixed opinions to the rapper’s remix and the Cole’s reaction to it.
