Remy Ma’s case involving fellow “Love & Hip-Hop” cast mate Brittney Taylor has been dismissed, and the rapper has already spoken to reporters about it.
On Monday, Remy and her legal team were in a New York City courtroom and, according to TMZ, prosecutors dropped the charges because they couldn’t prove that she assaulted Taylor. There were no surveillance footage or witnesses to back up Taylor’s claims that Remy punched her in the eye.
Taylor said back in April that Remy assaulted her while they were backstage at the Pretty Lou Benefit Concert at New York City’s Irving Plaza.
Then, on May 1, the “All the Way Up” rapper turned herself in to the New York City Police Department and received a misdemeanor assault charge.
Later she was hit with additional charges of two counts of assault in the third degree, one count of aggravated harassment in the second degree, as well as one count of harassment in the second degree.
Over the summer, however, Remy’s attorney Dawn Florio said that Taylor has been calling Remy’s stepdaughter Dejanae Mackie and harassing her, which Taylor denied. Florio also said there was no way the rapper could’ve assaulted Taylor, because Remy was home when the supposed assault occurred.
On top of that, Remy’s publicist Ernest Dukes said Taylor has been lying about the assault, and she’s been motivated by money all along.
After the charges were dropped, Remy was seen coming out of the courtroom, and she looked pretty happy. But she expressed frustration about missing shows and having to wear an electronic ankle monitor because of the case.
“It went great,” she told a reporter with her husband Papoose by her side. “It was dismissed and he broke down all the reasons why it was dismissed.”
“I wish they would’ve came to that conclusion before I had an ankle bracelet and lost months and months of wages and had an [8 p.m.] curfew and all these other great things,” added Remy.
Florio also spoke about the charges being dropped.
“Remy has always maintained her complete innocence, as she never laid a hand on her celebrity-obsessed, clout-chasing, credibility-challenged accuser,” she told TMZ.
“Unfortunately, these manufactured allegations caused my client to suffer the indignities of having to wear an ankle monitor while having her freedom limited by travel restrictions and an 8 p.m. curfew,” Florio added.
