Rihanna has been pressured by fans for years about when she’ll release the follow-up to her 2016 album “Anti,” and the eagerness for new music has not subsided in the slightest.
The singer discovered that Wednesday when she posted a selfie to her Instagram account and asked those in her inner circle to go easy on her for not being as responsive as before.
“to all my friends/family/coworkers who I have yet to get back to in the past months…please forgive me. this year has been quite an overwhelming one, and I’m working on that ish called Balance. brb,” the Bajan singer said Nov. 13.
Many of the star’s followers initially responded with understanding for the busy performer. Rihanna recently released a coffee table book called “The Rihanna Book” that serves as a visual autobiography of the past five years of her life. She’s also continued work on her brands Fenty Beauty and Savage x Fenty, each of which has dropped new makeup and lingerie products, respectively, in recent weeks.
“We will be patient and wait for you love!”
“I understand 💯. We all forget balance at some point.”
“It’s hard to juggle everything in life! But it’s all worth it in the end ❤️”
“Same sisssss, I feel you. This year tried to kill me but I’m still here bish. Take your time ❤️ we love you”
But soon, comments turned toward when members of Rih’s loyal fanbase deemed the Navy can expect a new studio album to be released.
“@badgalriri I need that new album boo”
“balance better b the name of the album yhu dropping”
“But you said please dont stop the music then you gon stop it
“Where’s the album heaux?!!!”
The final comment spurred RiRi to respond writing, “@illjahjah I don’t need this kinda negativity in my life! BLOCKT.”
Rihanna has long been inundated with questions surrounding the status of new music. And she hasn’t always helped her case in the process.
This summer, Rihanna commented on rapper Wale’s Instagram post stating he’s gearing up to release new tunes.
“Let’s GO. **hides from Navy,” she commented.
She had also teased that she’d have new music on the way this year, but indicated in a July tweet that it won’t be happening.
“Nobody: Me: Album coming in 2019. Navy in July,” she wrote of a video from “Love & Hip-Hop: Atlanta” that saw from Karlie Redd proclaiming a lie had been told.
