It looks like Deyjah Harris may be highly upset with her father — or the social media reactions to him — T.I. following last week’s controversy.
According to the 18-year-old model’s Instagram page, she has unfollowed her father, her stepmother Tiny Harris and some of her siblings. Although the timing of her social media actions are unknown, fans believe it happened after the father of six said he goes to Deyjah’s gynecologist appointments with her to “check her hymen.”
The teenager does appear to be following her stepmother on Twitter, but not her father T.I.
The 39-year-old rapper sent social media into an uproar after he made controversial comments during his Nov. 5 interview on the “Ladies Like Us” podcast with co-hosts Nazanin Mandi and Nadia Moham. When the podcasters asked if he and his daughters had the “sex talk,” T.I. responded, “Have I? We go … Deyjah’s 18, just graduated high school, now she’s attending her first year of college, figuring it out for herself. And, yes, not only have we had the conversation. … We have yearly trips to the gynecologist to check her hymen.”
He then recalled Deyjah’s 16th birthday and went into depth about a specific visit that took place.
“Right after the birthday, we celebrate…usually the day after the party. She’s enjoying her gifts. I put a sticky note on the door: ‘Gyno, tomorrow, 9:30,'” the “Be Easy” rapper said. “We’ll go and sit down, and the doctor will come and talk, and you know, the doctors maintain a high level of professionalism. He’s like, ‘Well, you know, sir, in order for me to share information …’ I say, ‘Deyjah, they want you to sign this … so we can share information. Is there anything that you would not want me to know?'”
He added, “But I will say, as of her 18th birthday, her hymen is still intact.”
T.I.’s comments incited angry, confused and mixed reactions from social media users.
“So TI is catching heat because he didn’t want his underage daughter to have sex? Am I stupid or does every parent not want their kid to have underage sex? People need to stfu and mind their own business. I hope ur ok Deyjah 🥺.”
“One thing’s for sure, Rapper TI clearly knows shit all about women’s bodies if he thinks that a broken hymen means you’re not a virgin. And what a weird, creepy, inappropriate thing to do to your daughter. But then again I’m not surprised at this misogynist 🤷”
Deyjah has not publicly commented on her father’s comments, but she did tweet on November 5 to her followers, “I loveeeeeee yalllllll.” She was spotted liking a series of tweets calling T.I’s actions “disgusting,” “possessive” and “controlling.”
The co-hosts of “Ladies Like Us,” Mandi and Moham, have removed T.I.’s interview off their podcast and apologized for their “knee jerk reaction to the uncomfortable topic.”
T.I. has yet to address the backlash he received.
