Gucci Mane has officially partnered with the Italian fashion brand Gucci by being the face of its Gucci Cruise 2020 collection. And some said they’re OK with the move, while others stated the opposite.
Because it was less than a year ago the fashion label released, then pulled its black balaclava knit sweater after many thought it resembled blackface. The sweater came in the form of a turtleneck that could be pulled to the nose, and it had giant red lips as well.
T.I. was one of the first celebrities who called for a Gucci boycott and so did 50 Cent.
As for Mane, rumors began to swirl that he was going to partner with the luxury brand last week, after he was seen front row at its spring/summer 2020 show.
Guwop then put an end to the speculation on Monday by posting a photo from the campaign, and he shared another picture on Tuesday.
“So are we suddenly supporting them again because they realize the value of the black dollar ? π€¨” someone asked.
“They needed you to revive their reputation. Damn π€¦ββοΈ,” a second person wrote.
Then another person brought up T.I. and said he’s going to have a bad reaction to his fellow rapper partnering with Gucci.
“TI gonna be on his head. LOL,” that person anticipated.
“Why hasnt @troubleman31 like the pic yet lol,” someone else asked.
But, perhaps surprisingly, the majority of Mane’s followers were OK with the partnership, and they said it’s been a long time coming. Many also said he made a smart business move.
“Black excellence ππ” one person stated.
“Been waiting for this foreva,” wrote someone else.
And one person wrote, “I swear the greatest rapper comeback ever #guccimane #1.”
